According to the latest data released by Syniverse, inter-regional 4G LTE roaming traffic in India has grown by a startling 3,300 per cent year-over-year. The growth was measured by studying global roaming traffic going across the Syniverseplatform.
Indicating that the 4G traffic is growing rapidly in India, the Syniverse study also illustrated that more than 70 per cent of the country’s outbound roaming traffic still traverses through network technologies like 3G or even 2G. This underscores the point that there is still more work to be done in the 4G connectivity.
Syniverse is a global company dealing in mobile interoperability, mobile communications and mobile expertise. It is one of the sponsors of 5G India 2018 International Conference, which is being organised in Mumbai from May 17-18, 2018.
India’s growth in 4G roaming is said to be supported by Syniverse platform, including clearing and settlement, and the IPX network. IPX network is a global, secure networking protocol that connects 1,000 service providers and 7 billion devices worldwide to enable better LTE experience.
The draft National Digital Communications Policy 2018 aims to accelerate the country’s digital transformation by ensuring universal access to high-speed connectivity. To achieve this goal, the country’s service providers must continue to focus on increasing the global LTE roaming supported by underlying technologies.
